Newcastle United remain in the hunt for Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron.
According to the Daily Mail, Miguel Almiron’s agent wants a £4million fee in a transfer – and that is a big problem for Newcastle United.
The Magpies beat Cardiff City 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, with Rafael Benitez’s side picking up a hugely important win in their battle at the bottom.
The fear though now is that Mike Ashley won’t spend on new signings this month, even with Benitez’s team clearly being in need of new faces.
Newcastle’s top target for around six weeks now has been Atlanta United ace Almiron, but wages and a transfer fee have been an issue for the frugal Magpies.
The Daily Mail now report that Almiron’s agent wants a huge £4million fee to facilitate a move, and that is a sticking point for Newcastle.
Almiron will be looking for around £100,000-a-week in wages, and a fee would cost north of £20million, meaning a deal is becoming increasingly expensive.
It now seems unlikely that Newcastle will have the funds to meet all of these demands, with the latest £4million demand from Almiron’s agent potentially the nail in the coffin.
Almiron, 24, starred for Atlanta United this past MLS season, notching 13 goals and 13 assists whilst helping Atlanta win the MLS Cup, and looks set to move on – but potentially not to Newcastle.
