Almiron joined Newcastle for a club-record fee on deadline day.
The Chronicle has claimed that Miguel Almiron will begin Newcastle United training on Wednesday after obtaining a Visa that will now allow him to start training with the Tyneside club.
Almiron, 24, joined Newcastle for a club-record fee on deadline day, which BBC Sport claim is worth £21million. It saw Newcastle finally break their 14-year-old record, which stood since buying Michael Owen in 2005.
The Paraguay international was a long-term target for manager Rafa Benitez, having starred in Atlanta United’s MLS Cup triumph where he scored 13 goals and created 13 more in assists.
The report claims Almiron has been in Paris, where he had to pick up his Visa in person. As a player signed from outside of Europe, Almiron needed a Visa to start work-related activities and be able to earn – with such work including training.
The Toon’s squad had been given time off after the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend, before returning on Wednesday as preparations begin for Monday night’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Almiron is now expected to be available for selection against the Midlands club and could make his debut at Molineux. Almiron will wear the number 24 shirt.
