Skipp, 21, is close to entering the final two years of his Tottenham contract – which expires in June 2024. But Antonio Conte sees the England Under-21 midfielder as a key part of his plans at Tottenham and a new deal is close.
Indeed, the Mail report that Skipp is ‘on the verge’ of putting pen to paper on a new long-term Spurs contract. That is, despite playing just eight times in the Premier League under Conte before suffering a niggling groin issue.
In those eight games, though, Skipp has shown why Conte wants to keep him. Five clean sheets, five wins, only six goals conceded. The Mail report he will earn £35,000 a week, or £1.8million a year at Tottenham.

To be able to pen Skipp down to a long-term deal but at such a low figure is brilliant Tottenham business. Skipp offers Spurs a homegrown talent, for the next few years, without rinsing the Tottenham budget.
Skipp has shown that he is crucial to the engine room and while the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur might push him down the pecking order – Skipp is still very important especially with European football coming up next season.
