Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in signing West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher.

According to reports from The Mirror, Championship outfit Middlesbrough are looking to sign West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher this summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Hammers from Manchester United last summer after he impressed on loan at Barnsley.

However, the youngster failed to make a big impact, managing only two starts in the Premier League last season.

His prospects of first-team football at the London Stadium looks bleak following the arrival of Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen.

A host of Premier League and Championship clubs have shown an interest in signing Fletcher this summer.

According to reports from The Sun, Leeds United, Reading and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also showing interest in the England Under-20 international.

The Mirror adds that Premier League clubs – Brighton and Watford – are also interested in securing his signature.

However, it is Middlesbrough who have the best chance of signing him.

All these aforementioned clubs want to sign Fletcher on loan, whereas Boro are looking at a permanent deal, and are ready to pay up to £7 million for him.

Garry Monk has already splashed out around £24m to bring in Martin Braithwaite and Britt Assombalonga, but it seems he still wants to bolster the attacking department.
