Middlesbrough want talks with Garry Monk after making the Leeds United boss their top target, according to the Sun.
It is claimed that Boro will step up their search for a new manager this week, after caretaker Steve Agnew failed to impress in his 11-game audition for the role.
Monk is out of contract at Leeds next month, and is also said to be attracting interest from Norwich City are leading the Whites to the brink of a play-off place.
But odds on the 38-year-old being Middlesbrough’s next boss have taken a tumble this weekend, backing up the Sun’s claim.

Leeds, who are awaiting the completion of a full takeover by co-owner Andrea Radrizzani, can extend Monk’s deal by a further year should they wish to.
But the longer his future remains unresolved the more vulnerable the Whites are to losing the former Swansea City boss.
It is claimed that Boro owner Steve Gibson could also hold talks with alternative candidates, having been inundated with interest since parting company with Aitor Karanka in March.
