Canos was in excellent form in the Championship last term, when he scored three goals and claimed three assists for the Bees.
Dean Smith’s side are understood to be determined to keep hold of him, but Boro reportedly are keen to snap him up.
Boro could have money to spend, if Adama Traore does complete a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the near future, as expected.
And Canos is said to be one of Tony Pulis’ wing targets, as he looks to strengthen this squad.
Middlesbrough also have eyes on Luke Freeman and Matt Phillips and Albert Adomah, as they aim to improve their attacking options.
