Middlesbrough will increase their offer for Hull City defender Harry Maguire, according to The Sun (print edition, page 73, Friday, August 26, 2016).

It has been reported that Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka will make a new £7 million bid for the 23-year-old former Sheffield United defender.

According to the report, the former England Under-21 international is keen on a move, but Hull are stalling as they have a limited number of fit players and takeover talks are dragging on.

Maguire has been on the books of the Tigers since the summer of 2014 and is rated as a very promising defender.

The 23-year-old made 24 appearances in the Championship for Hull during the 2015-16 campaign and three in the Premier League in 2014-15.

Middlesbrough have picked up four points from their opening two Premier League matches, but Karanka’s side lost to Fulham in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.
