Middlesbrough have reportedly enquired about a deal for Alvaro Negredo.

According to the Daily Mail, Middlesbrough have asked Valencia about the availability of striker Alvaro Negredo as they pursue another goalscorer.
Boro had already snapped up Bernardo Espinosa, Marten De Roon and Viktor Fischer ahead of their return to the Premier League, before landing a major coup on Thursday with the signing of Victor Valdes.
Valdes, 34, has penned a two-year deal at the Riverside Stadium, and the World Cup, Champions League, La Liga and European Championships winner could be joined by a former team-mate.
Manager Aitor Karanka appears to be preparing a move for another Spaniard, and the Daily Mail claim that he’s asked Valencia about a deal for striker Alvaro Negredo.
Negredo, 30, has hit 18 goals in 76 games for Valencia since signing from Manchester City back in the summer of 2014, but could now leave the La Liga side for a return to the Premier League.
The burly striker, smashed 23 goals in 48 games during his only season at City, with only nine goals coming in the Premier League, but he did play a part as City won the Premier League title and Capital One Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, the former Spain international – who played alongside Valdes as Spain won Euro 2012 – could now head to Middlesbrough after Karanka allegedly made an enquiry about the striker’s availability.
January signing Jordan Rhodes hit just six goals for Boro following a January move from Blackburn Rovers, whilst David Nugent has never proven himself as a Premier League player, meaning Karanka could look for a big-name addition to his attacking ranks – and Karanka its the bill.
