Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is said to be a big fan of the Bristol City defender.

Middlesbrough are set to table a £5 million bid for Bristol City’s Aden Flint, according to the Daily Mirror (liveblog entry 20:06).
The newspaper claims Boro boss Tony Pulis is a ‘big fan’ of the 6ft 6in centre-back and will ‘test the Bristol City’s’ resolve’ – despite them tying Flint to a new three-and-a-half-year deal last December.

And the report adds that while Middlesbrough’s opening offer is unlikely to tempt Flint’s employers, they could go higher – especially if Ben Gibson gets sold.
Gibson, who gained England recognition when Boro were last in the Premier League, is said to have several top flight suitors.

According to the Shields Gazette, Middlesbrough are in pole position to sign Sunderland’s Paddy McNair in another £5 million deal.
McNair has played much of his recent football in central midfield, but is a centre-half by trade.
