Middlesbrough had a bid rejected for Middlesbrough’s Keiren Westwood earlier in the transfer window.
Boro made Westwood one of their top targets to take over the number one shirt next season, but Wednesday batted away their first offer.
Garry Monk’s side have now turned their attention to signing Rob Green from Leeds United.
However, Boro retain an interest in Westwood, who is a player who Monk rates highly.
Wednesday are believed to be determined to keep hold of Westwood but he is reaching an age, where he would have little value if he stayed at Hillsborough.
Westwood is now 32, meaning this summer may be Wednesday’s last chance to receive a fee for the Republic of Ireland international.
Whether the Owls could be tempted to sell remains to be seen, but Westwood does still remain on Boro’s wishlist.
Middlesbrough are believed to have plenty of funds to spend, with Monk keen to invest in his first-team squad.
