Middlesbrough are reportedly keen on signing the Benfica winger.

According to a report from the Sun (print edition August 26th, page 61), Middlesbrough are plotting a late loan move for Benfica winger Rafa Silva, with a view to making the deal a permanent one next summer.

Boro sold Adama Traore to Wolves earlier this month for around £18 million, and Tony Pulis is believed to be desperate to add more quality to his wide attacking ranks.

Whilst the transfer window is now closed, Championship clubs can still bring in players on loan up until August 31st, and Silva would undoubtedly be an excellent addition at the Riverside.

According to a report from the Sun (print edition August 26th, page 61), Pulis wants to bring the 25-year-old to Middlesbrough on loan, with a view to signing him permanently for around £10 million next summer.

Silva can play on either wing and he possesses exceptional technical ability.

He would help add a certain type of quality and directness to Boro’s play in the final third, and Pulis will be delighted if he manages to get a deal for the Portuguese winger over the line before Friday’s deadline.
