Callum Roberts is heading to Boro after failing to make the grade in the Premier League with Newcastle United.

Callum Roberts is on trial at Middlesbrough after leaving North East rivals Newcastle United, as reported by the Hartlepool Mail.
A South Shields-born winger who rose through the ranks at St James’ Park, Roberts’ 15-year association with The Magpies came to an end this summer after he failed to force his way into the club’s first-team plans.
He was linked with a shock move to Greek giants Panathinaikos in June by the Shields Gazette but it seems that the 22-year-old is instead set to join a club far closer to home.
Middlesbrough, situated just 40 miles south of Newcastle, have taken Roberts on trial as the England U20 international looks to get his career back on track.

The report claims that the versatile youngster, who can also play at full-back, will link up with Boro’s U23 side as the Championship outfit mull over whether or not to offer the free agent a contract at the Riverside.
Middlesbrough coach Jonathan Woodgate is keen to give plenty of youngsters a chance this season with Lewis Wing, Dael Fry and Marcus Tavernier set to play a key role in his first season at the helm.
