West Bromwich Albion have reportedly failed with a bid for Spurs target Ben Gibson.
According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion have failed with a £21million bid for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson – and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino isn’t planning an imminent move.
Gibson, 24, has come up through the ranks at the Riverside Stadium, and after loan spells with Tranmere Rovers and York City, the defender has become an important player for Boro.

The centre back started every one of Middlesbrough’s 38 Premier League games last season, and his impressive displays even earned him an England call-up earlier this year as he continues to develop.
With Boro suffering relegation, Gibson is now a hot property, and the Daily Mail report that West Bromwich Albion have failed with a new £21million bid to sign him.
However, it’s claimed that Middlesbrough hope to sell Gibson to a top six club in order to bring in a huge fee, but Tottenham Hotspur aren’t planning to make an immediate move.
Given that Kevin Wimmer is still with the club, Pochettino doesn’t want to bring in another first-team defender just yet, and will only move if Wimmer leaves – and Middlesbrough are ‘aware’ of long-term interest from Tottenham.

Gibson is allegedly keen to stay in the Premier League, and he may well need to return to the top flight this summer in order to boost his chances of grabbing a place in the England squad for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Yet with West Brom’s bid failing and Tottenham biding their time, Gibson may have to wait for his big move, which could cost a Premier League team around £25million to £30million this summer.
