Reports in Belgium this morning are suggesting that Spurs are now in pole position to sign Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.
VoetbalKrankt is reporting Het Laatste Nieuws as claiming that the Belgian international attacker has decided he wants to join Tottenham this summer – with Marseille now preparing to sell the player.
However there remains a major stumbling block over any potential deal.
The report also makes it clear that Daniel Levy and Tottenham are not prepared to spend the €40 million (£31.3 million) that Marseille are asking for the player.

That fee would make Batshuayi Tottenham’s most expensive signing ever – overtaking Erik Lamela – and they do not feel he has done enough to justify such a fee at this stage of his career.
Spurs have a point. Whilst the Belgian is a talented player his record of 33 goals in 78 games for the French side does not warrant such a substantial fee for the 22-year-old.

Tottenham seem unwilling to budge on this issue and if Marseille want to sell the player this summer they will have to come down on the asking price.
Batshuayi has also been linked with West Ham whilst Spurs are said to also be keeping tabs on FC Basel striker Breel Embolo – who is also heavily courted by German side RB Leipzig.
