Michel Vorm is being seriously considered by one of his former clubs after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in the goalkeeper’s native Netherlands.
Vorm’s Tottenham contract was not renewed upon its expiry earlier this summer,
And Voetbal International claims he could return to FC Utrecht amid the possible departure of another shot-stopper, David Jensen.
The Dutch newspaper adds that Jensen was informed at the weekend that his younger colleague, Maarten Paes, is replacing him ‘for the time being’ as Utrecht’s first choice in goal.
It is suggested that if the Dane is to leave then another experienced option will be sought – making 35-year-old Vorm an obvious contender.
That said, Vorm has spent the last five years playing second-fiddle to Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
And he may be seeking more frequent minutes than those seemingly on offer at Utrecht as he approaches the end of his career.
Vorm began his professional career at Utrecht in 2005 but left them for Swansea City – from whom Tottenham signed him alongside Ben Davies – in 2011.
