Report: Michael O’Halloran to seal Rangers exit imminently

Glasgow Rangers forward Michael O’Halloran is reportedly on the verge of leaving Ibrox.

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Michael O’Halloran will seal his move away from Rangers in the next 48 hours with the 27-year-old set to become a Melbourne City player this summer.

O’Halloran has endured a fairly miserable time since arriving at Ibrox in 2016. The forward has never managed to hold down a regular spot in the Gers side, and now looks set to move with a record of just 29 league appearances – including 15 starts – and three goals for the Light Blues.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, there seemed to be a question mark already lingering over O’Halloran’s future when photos emerged of the former St Johnstone ace sitting amongst the Celtic fans at Hampden Park during the Scottish Cup final – though he claimed that he had no idea regarding where the tickets seated him.

It came after a season which saw the attacker play just one minute of competitive football for Rangers, and The Scottish Sun is now reporting that he is on the verge of sealing a move to Australia with the Gers ready to let him leave.

It seems highly unlikely that the Rangers fans will feel at all disappointed that he is on his way out. The move never worked out, and the writing seems to have been on the wall for a long time, so all parties will probably be delighted that he is set to secure a fresh challenge.

New Gers boss Steven Gerrard will surely be hoping to clear a lot of the fringe players off the books ahead of his first season at the club, and so it would be little surprise if O’Halloran is not the last somewhat-forgotten man who moves on during this window.
