Liverpool want £20 million as transfer fee for Divock Origi, according to The Athletic.

It has been reported that Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards could sell the Belgium international striker in the summer transfer window.

However, the former Premier League champions want as much as £20 million for the 26-year-old.

That would represent a £10 million profit on the Belgium international.

As reported by The Guardian in July 2014, Liverpool paid Lille £10 million in transfer fees for Origi.

Liverpool exit inevitable?

The 26-year-old has not had the best of times at Anfield, but he is a Premier League and Champions League winner.

In fact, Origi played a key role in Liverpool’s Champions League success in 2019 and scored some important goals.

However, the Belgian is essentially a squad player at Liverpool.

The 26-year-old made two starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.

The striker also made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Reds this campaign.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would not really miss Origi if he leaves.

As you can see from the stats above, the Belgian is a peripheral figure at Liverpool.

It would make sense for Liverpool to try to raise some funds from the sale of Origi and get better players in.

As for the striker, surely he would want to play regularly instead of just warming the bench.
