Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion have both made enquiries for Michael Carrick, but a report has suggested that he is not looking to move.

Michael Carrick of Manchester United trains during a training session ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Manchester United on August 7, 2017 in Skopje, Macedonia.

According to a report from ESPN, Michael Carrick is planning to stay at Manchester United despite attracting attention from the likes of Aston Villa, West Brom and Leicester City in recent times.

Carrick has spent more than a decade at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League medals in that time. However, the 36-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season, making just one appearance in the Carabao Cup so far this term – and it appeared that that had alerted a handful of clubs.

According to ESPN, Aston Villa, West Brom and Leicester had all made enquires for the former Tottenham star in the hope that the lack of game-time would tempt him to consider his future.

However, ESPN adds that Carrick has no desire to leave Manchester United and Jose Mourinho is happy for the veteran to stay at Old Trafford due to the influence he can have on the rest of the squad.

The news may be a blow for the likes of Steve Bruce and Tony Pulis, who would have been hoping that Carrick could have been an excellent addition to their respective squads.

The Englishman knows what it takes to win, so would have arguably been able to bring something to the table had he joined Leicester, West Brom or Villa both on and off the pitch.

However, it now appears that they will all have to look elsewhere if they hope to bolster their midfield options in January as Carrick is planning to stay until the summer at least, when his current deal is set to run out.
