The German is close to extending his stay with Arsenal, according to reports.
According to The Mirror, Mesut Ozil is close to signing a new Arsenal contract.
The German playmaker only has some 19 months to go on his existing deal and negotiations had reportedly reached something of an impasse.
This, according to The Independent, had seen Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho take an interest in bringing the 28-year-old to Old Trafford, having worked with him at Real Madrid.
But The Mirror has now reported that Arsenal are close to extending Ozil’s contract in a new deal which will be worth £200,000-a-week to him, making him the highest paid player at the club.

The report goes on to claim that the World Cup winner already earns somewhere in the region of £140,000.
With seven goals this season – including a Champions League hat-trick – Ozil has been in scintillating form and Arsenal fans will be delighted if he extends his stay in North London.

Fans of the North London club have seen plenty of their best players leave the club over the past decade or so, so keeping a man of Ozil’s importance is hugely encouraging.
It has not always been easy for the former Werder Bremen starlet, with his attitude often getting called into question, but this season Ozil is silencing his critics and thensome.
