West Ham have only brought in Samir Nasri this month.

Sky Sports claim West Ham United are to complete a deal to sign Mesaque Dju from Benfica on Wednesday, with the teenage attacker set to link up with the Hammers Under-23 squad.

Dju, 19, is a fast-paced attacker that can play on either flank and is also known to show quality as a striker. He has turned out for all of Portugal’s youth teams up until the Under-20 level, where he has nine caps and two goals.

The youngster is highly rated by Benfica, and has even played eight times for the club’s reserve side – which is a bigger feat than it is England, given that Benfica’s reserves play in the second tier of Portuguese football.

Dju played alongside former West Ham starlet Domingos Quina in the summer, as Portugal’s Under-19 side won the European Championship in Finland – beating Italy 4-3 in Extra Time.

Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla claimed on his website on Monday that West Ham were verging on the signing of Dju, and now it appears that a deal to land the attacker is set to be completed.

West Ham are also in the hunt for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomes, as per the report. It is believed the Hammers are willing to meet Gomez’s release clause of £43million, but it remains to be seen if a deal will be agreed before Thursday’s deadline.
