Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly closing in on Joao Cancelo.
According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, super-agent Jorge Mendes is pushing to take right back Joao Cancelo to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a €40million (£35million) deal.
Wolves are preparing for their Premier League return having won the Championship title, and they clinched two deals last week by signing loanees Willy Boly and Benik Afobe permanently.
However, manager Nuno Espirito Santo needs more new arrivals, and it seems that super-agent Jorge Mendes is once again working hard to help Wolves clinch big signings in the transfer market.
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports tonight that Mendes is pushing for Valencia right back Joao Cancelo to join Wolves in a deal which could be worth around £35million.
Cancelo, 24, came up through the ranks with Benfica in his native Portugal before heading to Valencia in 2014, initially on loan before making the move permanent in 2015.
This past season, Cancelo was sent out on loan to Inter Milan in Serie A, but with the Italian side deciding not to purchase him, he is now returning to Valencia this summer.
A pacey, attacking right back with seven caps and three goals for Portugal, Cancelo would be an incredible addition to the Wolves side, and a perfect fit at right wing back in Nuno’s 3-4-2-1 system.
That may be somewhat difficult for Matt Doherty, but Cancelo could be yet another Portuguese talent to head to Molineux, with Rui Patricio and Andre Silva also thought to be targets.
