Barrie McKay could join up with Nottingham Forest in the USA as his Rangers exit becomes inevitable.

Barrie McKay has been left at home by Rangers as they prepare to take on Progres Niederkorn in the second leg of their Europa League first qualifying round match tonight (July 4, 6.45pm KO).

That is according to the Nottingham Post, who say that the 22-year-old has not travelled with Gers because his transfer to Nottingham Forest is drawing closer.

Forest are currently on a pre-season training camp in the USA until July 14, but McKay could still join up with his new teammates in Florida if the deal is pushed through quickly enough.

The Scottish Sun reports that Cardiff City are also in the hunt for the winger – who is valued at £750,000 – but the Post believes the Scot would rather reunite with his former boss, Mark Warburton, at the City Ground.

McKay has found himself frozen out at Ibrox by manager Pedro Caixinha, according to the Daily Record, after refusing to sign a contract extension back in February.

And despite being named in the original Gers squad for the Europa League, it is clear with this latest development that Caixinha is preparing for life without the Scotland international.
