Newcastle have reportedly failed with a move for Milan’s M’Baye Niang.

Mbaye Niang of Watford applaudes the crowd after the Premier League match between Watford and Manchester City at Vicarage Road on May 21, 2017 in Watford, England.

According to Italian TV station Sport Mediaset, M’Baye Niang has rejected a move to Newcastle United, and has since got his desired transfer, leaving Milan for Torino.

The Magpies managed to bring in five new signings since securing Christian Atsu’s permanent move from Chelsea, with Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo, Mikel Merino, Jacob Murphy and Joselu arriving at St. James’ Park.

However, manager Rafael Benitez is still keen to bring in new faces ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline, but has failed with a move for a former Premier League forward.

Italian TV channel Sport Mediaset report that Newcastle made an approach to sign M’Baye Niang ahead of the deadline, but he turned them down as he only wanted to join Torino.

Torino have now confirmed a loan deal for Niang with a view to a permanent move, meaning that Benitez will have to look elsewhere if he wants to bring in reinforcements before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Niang, 22, emerged as one of Europe’s top youngsters with Caen, but has notched just 12 goals in 77 games for Milan, and was farmed out on loan to Montpellier and Genoa.

AC Milan's forward from France Mbaye Niang kicks and fail a penalty kick during the Italian Serie A football match Roma vs AC Milan at the Olympic Stadium in Roma on December 12, 2016.

In January, Niang was sent on loan to Watford, and he impressed in the Premier League with two goals and two assists in 14 games, which may have prompted Benitez’s interest.

With pace, power, skill and versatility across the front line, Niang could have been a valuable addition to the Newcastle attack, but he has snubbed the Magpies in order to stay in Italy and join Torino.
