The Tottenham Hotspur defender is widely regarded as one of the game’s best.

According to a report from Belgian media outlet HLN, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to offer want-away centre-back Toby Alderweireld one last chance, and will try and tie the 29-year-old down to a new long-term deal with the club.
The Belgium international was heavily linked with an exit from Spurs during the summer transfer window, but he seems to have been given a new lease of life by Poch this season.
The problem for Tottenham is that a £25 million buy-out clause in Alderweireld’s contract will become activated next summer, so if they plan on keeping him for at least another year, they will risk losing him for peanuts in today’s crazy transfer market.

HLN claims that Pochettino will make one final attempt to tie the 29-year-old down to a new long-term deal, however, with the Belgian having impressed during the first few games of the season.
Whether Alderweireld will want to commit his future to Tottenham, though, remains to be seen.
