New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants to bring Real Madrid star Federico Valverde to Stamford Bridge.

According to Defensa Central, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has told his bosses to sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Chelsea could make a bid of €100 million (£86 million) and could even raise it €120 million (£103 million) for the £181,000-a-week (SalarySport) 24-year-old, who  can operate in central midfield or on the right wing.

Defensa Central have added that Madrid do not intend to sell Valverde, who himself wants to stay at the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners.

Could Chelsea sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid?

In our opinion, Chelsea are unlikely to be able to sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, and Los Blancos will surely not sell one of the best and most important players.

Valverde has been superb for Madrid over the years and is now one of the first names in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s teamsheet.

The Uruguay International is only 24 now and has his best years ahead of him.

Valverde made 29 starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga for Madrid last season.

The star scored seven goals and gave four assists in those games.
