The Tottenham Hotspur star can operate as a central midfielder or in the centre-back position.

According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino could ask Eric Dier to revert to a centre-back next season, rather than buy a new central defender, should Toby Alderweireld leave the club this summer.
The 25-year-old joined Spurs in the summer of 2014 from Sporting Lisbon for around £4 million, according to BBC Sport, and he has gone on to make 209 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.
It is still unclear where Dier is best suited to play, however.
According to a report from Football.London, Pochettino has always believed that the England international can become a truly top star as a centre-back, but the player himself prefers playing in central midfield, according to the Telegraph.
Dier actually struggled for both form and fitness last season for Tottenham, so he will be keen to get underway again next term, and prove his doubters wrong.
Quite where he will play for Spurs, however, remains to be seen.

Much will depend on whether Alderweireld is actually sold this summer, and if Tottenham manage to bring in their two key midfield targets – Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.
Whatever happens at Spurs this summer, however, Dier will surely be more than happy to play wherever he is asked, especially if it enhances his hopes of playing regularly.
