Eric Dier is said to be happy at Tottenham Hotspur, despite interest from Manchester United.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier sees his future as a midfielder.

Dier has been utilised most regularly as a right-sided centre-back by Spurs this season, where he has impressed.

However, the 23-year-old feels he is more suited to playing a role at the base of the midfield – as he does for England, and did for Tottenham last season.

But Mauricio Pochettino reportedly cannot guarantee Dier that he will become a defensive midfielder at White Hart Lane.

The form of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama has kept Dier out of Spurs’ starting midfield this season, and Pochettino has no desire to break up that partnership.

As a result, the Telegraph believe that Dier’s future at White Hart Lane could be in some doubt.

Dier is said to be happy at Spurs, but there could be a stage down the line when he wants to play in his more favoured position.

Tottenham are believed to be planning for every eventuality, with Pochettino keen to bring in another centre-back this summer.

Burnley’s Michael Keane is top of Spurs’ wishlist, and could be available for £30 million.

If Dier is to leave Tottenham, Manchester United are the most keen suitors for the talented England international.
