Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels has struggled to make an impact since moving to St. James’ Park.
According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels is set to join Anderlecht in the near future.
Sels was only brought to Newcastle last summer, but his first year at St. James’ Park has been a major disappointment and Rafael Benitez has moved quickly to offload the Belgium following his side’s promotion.
Sels had no chance of breaking into Newcastle’s starting line-up for the upcoming campaign, and the Magpies decided to loan him out to Anderlecht.

The Belgian side are believed to be paying Sels’ full wages for the duration of his temporary spell.
Sels was brought to Newcastle to be Benitez’s first choice last campaign, but a series of error-prone displays seem to have ended his chances of being a success with the Magpies.

The 25-year-old is currently behind Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot in the pecking order, while Benitez is also keen to make sure Freddie Woodman has a route into the first-team.
Sels’ loan spell is likely to be the beginning of the end for him at Newcastle, with the goalkeeper surely set to move on permanently at the end of next campaign.
Newcastle are thought to be looking to bring in a new number one this summer.
