Aston Villa have been linked with the Juventus and Italy goalkeeper in recent days.

Aston Villa’s pursuit of Juventus goalkeeper appears to have hit a snag as it’s been reported that the goalkeeper is currently unsure about the prospect of linking up with the newly promoted Premier League side, according to Calciomercato.

The 26-year-old was on the verge of joining Benfica earlier this month, the two clubs reportedly agreeing a fee worth €15million (£13.5million), with Perin himself describing the opportunity as an “exciting adventure”, according to Goal.com.

However, as it emerged that he would spend up to four months on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury being discovered to be more serious than previously thought, the Portuguese giants confirmed they would not be completing the transfer during the summer window.

Perin has since been linked with a switch to Villa Park but, according to Calciomercato, while an agreement is said to be close between the Bianconeri and the Villans, the player himself wants to take more time to think things through following his recent disappointment in Portugal.

The report adds that Juve director of sport Fabio Paratici flew out to England on Wednesday to discuss a deal with Villa over the twice capped Italy international, hoping to put the Benfica situation behind them.

Perin, who has been on Juve’s books for just one year, made nine appearances for the Vecchia Signora last season following his move from Genoa; all of his Juve appearances were in Serie A, and he kept five clean sheets, according to Transfermarkt.
