According to German newspaper Bild, Hertha Berlin are already resigned to Matteo Guendouzi heading back to Arsenal this summer.
It’s claimed that the Bundesliga side know they simply can’t afford to keep Guendouzi permanently, having taken him on loan this season.
Hertha have even already started looking for a possible replacement, with Yannick Gerhardyt being lined up to take his place.
It’s suggested that Hertha like Gerhardt because he knows the Bundesliga well, and boss Bruno Labbadia worked with him at Wolfsburg.
Labbadia is a huge fan, and with Gerhardt available for free at the end of the season, he is seen as an ideal alternative to Guendouzi.
Guendouzi has played nine times for Hertha since arriving on loan, and has impressed with two goals and one assist to his name.

The Frenchman ended up being cast aside by Mikel Arteta, and it’s unclear whether he will have a route back into the Arsenal side even if Hertha send him back.
Arsenal may hope that he can put himself in the shop window, as welcoming him back to the club may give Arteta a headache – even if he is undoubtedly talented.
