Aston Villa are reportedly set to sign the Southampton left-back.

Sky Sports has reported that Aston Villa will only pay around £11 million up front for Southampton defender Matt Targett.
The Daily Echo claimed on Friday that the Villans had struck a £17 million deal with Southampton for the 23-year-old.
But Sky Sports is now reporting that £6 million of that figure will be paid in performance-related add-ons, meaning the flat fee is only £11 million.
The report adds that Aston Villa could officially sign the player as early as tomorrow, providing the medical at Bodymoor Heath goes smoothly.
This might be a good signing for Dean Smith’s side but, even for £11 million, there’s an element of risk.
Targett wasn’t deemed good enough to start for a Southampton side that was battling relegation for much of last season. His last start for the Saints was on February 24 and it is a bit of a concern.
Smith will obviously know the player’s strengths and weaknesses, but you can never fully know a player until seeing them consistently in the Premier League and Targett – who spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Fulham – isn’t really a proven top-tier player as of yet.
