The Mirror are reporting this afternoon (1:46pm) that Newcastle United are in danger of missing out on Eddie Howe.
It is being reported that Howe has failed to secure a deal for his backroom staff.
Newcastle’s owners are standing their ground and are not willing to budge from their position.
This, according to the report, has left Howe with the final decision whether or not to become the new Newcastle manager.
Massive twist
This latest report is a massive twist in Newcastle’s pursuit of Howe.
BBC Sport were among a number of media outlets who reported on Thursday that Howe had verbally agreed a deal with Newcastle.
Then The Athletic claimed late last night that the Magpies were going to announce the appointment today.
It seemed that a deal was done.
However, it now appears that there is a danger that Howe will not end up at St. James’ Park after all.
Something similar happened when Howe was in talks with Celtic.
The Daily Mail reported in May 2021 that talks between the Englishman and Celtic broke down over his backroom staff.
It seems that history could repeat itself.
