Leeds United are set to appoint a new sporting director at the club, report the Daily Mail.
It is reported that Francesco Marrocu is set to receive the role.
Marrocu has worked under controversial Leeds United chairman and owner Massimo Cellino previously at Cagliari and left Ascoli in June.
The Mail report that he has been attending training throughout the season and keeping an eye on Garry Monk’s sessions as he assesses the current first-team squad.

His appointment will not be greeted warmly by many Leeds fans. Many will fear a repeat of the controversies that surrounded his predecessor Nicola Salerno. The fact Marrocu speaks very limited English will also not go down well with the Leeds faithful.
The timing of this news will also be ominous for Monk. He is under mounting pressure with Leeds after the club slipped into the relegation zone yesterday following a 1-0 home loss to West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.
Given the sack-happy nature of Cellino, Monk must be clinging on to his job at Leeds.
The appointment of a sporting director may not sit well with the Leeds boss, as transfer plans could change by January with Marrocu present.
