Liverpool are now making Mason Mount their top transfer target this summer after backing away from Jude Bellingham.

News emerged on Tuesday night, suggesting that Liverpool have pulled out of the race for Bellingham.

Liverpool allegedly don’t think it’s wise to blow their budget on one player when they need multiple additions to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool need two or three midfielders this summer and the Reds are turning elsewhere with Bellingham out of reach.

Football London now claim that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has become Liverpool’s top priority over Bellingham.

It’s stated that Klopp is a huge admirer of Mount and Liverpool see this summer as the ideal time to strike.

Mount is out of contract in 2024 and Chelsea will sell this summer if they can’t thrash out a new deal.

The report claims that Liverpool think this is perfect as they can sign Mount for a ‘reduced price’ this summer.

Steven Gerrard is a fan of Mason Mount

It hurts that Liverpool seemingly won’t be signing Bellingham.

Fans are understandably annoyed as it felt like Liverpool were being cautious in previous windows to then go big for Bellingham.

That won’t be happening now but Mount is a quality alternative.

The Chelsea ace has shown his class years after year for Chelsea and still has plenty of untapped potential at just 24.

Mount brings the hard work and energy that Jurgen Klopp expects, whilst being able to offer guile and creativity in the final third that Liverpool have lacked at times.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is certainly a fan of Mount having previously labelled him a ‘big talent’.

Mount may now be charged with the task of becoming Liverpool’s new star midfielder, just like Gerrard was in years gone by.

Mount isn’t Bellingham but Liverpool could still seriously improve their midfield by landing the Chelsea man this summer.
