Marvin Johnson has been linked with the likes of Hull City and Leeds United this summer.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Marvin Johnson has put sides, including Hull, on alert by telling Oxford United that he wants to leave the club this summer.
Sky Sports reports that the Tigers made a bid, believed to be worth £1 million, for the 26-year-old at the weekend, while the Yorkshire Post suggested last week that Leeds were rivalling Hull for his signature.
And it appears that both teams have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the winger, as Sky Sports is now reporting that he has informed Oxford that he wishes to leave the Kassam Stadium.
Sky Sports adds that Hull appear to be in the driving seat for his signature as they are now expected to return with a fresh bid for the former Motherwell ace.
If Leeds are indeed still interested in Johnson, then they may perhaps be hoping that a connection with the U’s aids their chances of winning the race if they match any future bids from Hull.
Oxford boss Pep Clotet spent last term at Elland Road as Garry Monk’s assistant manager and was an extremely popular member of the team, so perhaps any positive recollections he has shared with his new side may help influence Johnson if the Whites leave him with a decision to make.
