Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn is reportedly set to leave Ibrox to join Ipswich.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers have struck a deal to sell forward Martyn Waghorn to Ipswich Town, with a fee of around £1million believed to have been agreed.

The Gers opened their league campaign with a 2-1 away win at Motherwell on Sunday afternoon, as summer signing Graham Dorrans scored twice to give Rangers all three points at Fir Park.

Dorrans is one of nine signings made by manager Pedro Caixinha this summer, and the focus may now turn to moving players on, given that winger Michael O’Halloran was recently allowed to re-join St Johnstone.

Another forward could be on the way out of Ibrox, as the Daily Mail report that Rangers have agreed to sell attacker Martyn Waghorn to Championship club Ipswich Town in a £1million deal.

Rangers and former boss Mark Warburton swooped to land Waghorn from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015, and he enjoyed an incredible 2015-16 campaign with 28 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.

Waghorn didn’t enjoy quite as much success last season though, scoring just seven league goals in 32 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, and he has been pushed down the pecking order at Ibrox this summer.

The former Sunderland man – who was being targeted by the Black Cats – can play up front or out wide, but Rangers have brought in Dalcio, Daniel Candeias, Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera to boost their attack, leaving Waghorn on the fringes.

Now, Ipswich are set to follow up signing Joe Garner from Rangers by also landing former Gers team-mate Waghorn, with the 27-year-old, with Caixinha no doubt happy to take £1million and potential reinvest that money in a new signing before this month’s transfer deadline.
