Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are as keen as ever to sign the veteran defender, according to a report.

If rumours are believed, Rangers haven’t given up on signing Martin Skrtel.
The Ibrox side were heavily linked with a move for the Slovakian defender last summer, though a transfer to Glasgow never materialised.
But Rangers boss Steven Gerrard – who played alongside Skrtel at Liverpool – remains a big fan and, according to The Record, the veteran centre-back is flying to Scotland to hold talks with his old team-mate.
The 34-year-old, who turns 35 in December, is a free agent after his £60k-a-week contract with Fenerbahce expired and Gerrard is still keen on the big man.
Not only did the Gers boss try and sign Skrtel last summer, but there were also renewed attempts in January [The Record] and time will tell whether it’s third-time-lucky for Gerrard.
Good signing?
Would it be a good deal? In a word, yes. Skrtel would still be an absolute animal in Glasgow and what a fantastic coup it could be for Rangers.
Yes, he will be expensive in terms of salary, but they’re paying Joe Aribo around £20k-a-week [The Scottish Sun], so perhaps they can afford to put Skrtel on big bucks.
He spent eight years at Liverpool until 2016, scoring 16 Premier League goals in 242 top-flight appearances.
