According to Defensa Central, Arsenal loanee Martin Odegaard wants face-to-face talks with Zinedine Zidane in order to decide his future.

It’s claimed that Odegaard is still ‘convinced’ he will become a first-team player at Real Madrid and isn’t prepared to give up hope yet.

However, Odegaard still wants to decide his short-term future, and needs to speak to Zidane before committing to a decision.

Odegaard is open to staying at Arsenal for another year as long as Mikel Arteta is still Gunners manager, which doesn’t look like changing.

That should give Arsenal hope of extending Odegaard’s loan if they so wish, but it will ultimately hinge on those talks with Zidane.

Zidane didn’t exactly give Odegaard much playing time in the first half of the season; just three league starts despite shining at Real Sociedad last season.

The 22-year-old has yet to really hit top form for Arsenal, but has shown moments of quality playing as a number 10.

There is still plenty of time for Zidane, Arteta and Odegaard to weigh up the situation, with the Norwegian’s future up in the air for now.
