Martin Jol is reportedly not in line to become the next Rangers manager.

According to The Scottish Sun, Martin Jol has been ruled out of the race to become Rangers manager – and compatriot Frank de Boer is also unlikely to take the job.

The Gers saw Mark Warburton leave the club earlier this month along with assistant manager David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland, meaning wholesale changes are needed at Ibrox.

A number of managers have been linked with the job, but as The Scottish Sun report that a new Director of Football is set to arrive, two managers also appear to have been ruled out.

In recent days, Dutchman Martin Jol has seen his odds crash, and he’s even at 6/1 this afternoon as Rangers ponder their next move after Warburton’s exit, with interim boss Graeme Murty currently struggling.

Jol, 61, has been out of management since leaving Egyptian side Al-Ahly, and possesses a wealth of experience having managed the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Hamburg, Ajax and Fulham.

However, it’s claimed that Jol has been ruled out of the running for the Rangers job, and his fellow Dutchman Frank de Boer is also unlikely to take the Ibrox post.

De Boer, 46, built up quite the reputation for himself as a manager having won four successive Eredivisie titles in charge of Ajax, but he’s currently out of work having been sacked by Inter Milan back in November, after just three months in the job.

Having spent six months with Rangers as a player, many fans have been desperate to see him return in an ambitious appointment – but it’s stated that, much like Jol, he won’t be taking the job at Ibrox, leaving Rangers to look at other targets.
