Marseille reportedly want to sign the Arsenal midfielder.
According to a report from the Mirror, Ligue 1 giants Marseille are lining up a swoop for Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and want to wrap up a deal for the Egyptian before the European transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
The Gunners signed the 26-year-old from Basel in January 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £5 million, but he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Emirates.
Elneny’s place in the team was threatened further this summer, when new manager Unai Emery brought in midfield duo Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi from Sampdoria and Lorient respectively.
And the Mirror claims that Marseille want to take advantage of his situation at Arsenal.
The British tabloid claims that the Ligue 1 outfit are keen to bring the Egypt international to the Stade Velodrome before the transfer deadline on August 31st, and they are quietly confident that Arenal could be tempted into selling.
And with the Gunners’ strength in depth in the middle of the park, it would be no surprise to see Elneny leave for pastures new before the end of this month.
