The Tottenham Hotspur player has struggled to make any significant impact since arriving from Newcastle United.
According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Marseille have not given up hope of signing Moussa Sissoko from Tottenham this season. However, the French club would favour an initial loan move for the 27-year-old.
Given how he fared after his surprise deadline day move to White Hart Lane last summer, Spurs will surely be looking to move him on just 12 months later, although a loan move is not going to suit them given their need to continue paying their yearly transfer installments to his former club Newcastle United.

Such is their agreement with the Magpies that Tottenham would be wise to sell up now, given their £30million commitment to the recently promoted club. But that will only be beneficial if Spurs find a side willing to get close to Sissoko’s price tag.
Two consecutive below-par campaigns will not help matters, even if his performances at Euro 2016 in between showed what he is capable, but as things stand Marseille appear to be the only club interested in signing the midfielder and in this case a bad deal may be better than no deal.
If Tottenham can arrange a loan deal with a guaranteed purchase option for a pre-agreed fee in 12 months, such a move could ultimately work to their advantage.
As things stand, however, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may not have given up on selling Sissoko now and writing his arrival off as a mistake never to be repeated.
