Newcastle have long been after Paris Saint-Germain defender N’Soki.

French outlet La Provence have claimed that Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille are looking to build on their signing of Mario Balotelli, by beating Newcastle United to the signature of Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki.

The Chronicle claimed earlier this week that Newcastle wanted to sign PSG’s 19-year-old left-back N’Soki to provide Paul Dummett with competition on the left side of defence.

However, it appears that offer has been rejected as Thomas Tuchel’s side are not interested in looking to loan N’Soki out. With Newcastle’s spending power in question, Marseille could be in the driving seat.

The Toon are desperately in need of a left-sided defender, as Dummett’s hamstring problems continue to see the Wales international spend a considerable amount of time on the sidelines.

Matt Ritchie has been used as a makeshift left-back of late, while right-back Javier Manquillo has also been used on the left side of defence. A move for Jordan Lukaku from Lazio fell through last week, due to a medical.

The club have also been linked with a loan for AS Monaco defender Antonio Barreca, and they remain in talks to land the 23-year-old Italian who joined Monaco only in the summer from Serie A side Torino.
