The Tottenham Hotspur forward has not had the best of starts to life in North London but could he really move on this summer?
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Marseille are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen in the current transfer window.
The news comes after the Ligue 1 club were linked with a move for another Tottenham player earlier this summer in the form of Moussa Sissoko.
Back in June, Le Journal Du Dimanche claimed the French club were prepared to pay £21.6million for the Tottenham flop, and while manager Mauricio Pochettino seemingly intends to keep both Sissoko and Janssen next season, Marseille appears to be the go-to club when it comes to potential next destinations for under-performing Spurs players.
Pochettino’s hand could be forced somewhat by Tottenham’s failure to sign any new players with just a week to go before the new Premier League campaign.
Had the North London club secured their targets, the likes of Sissoko and Janssen could be deemed surplus to requirements. As it is they will need all the players they currently have to ensure they compete both domestically and in Europe, especially as they will be playing at Wembley, where things did not go according to plan last time out.
Marseille allegedly see Janssen as one potential striking option as they look to strengthen their own team, but the Dutchman looks set for a reprieve after some half decent pre-season performances for Spurs.
That said, if Tottenham do ever want to ship out their dead weight, it seems Marseille will be more than happy to take their castoffs.
