According to the London Evening Standard, Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic faces being left out of the Reds’ squad.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a deadline day exit, with The Independent reporting that Werder Bremen were keen on a permanent deal.
However, Grujic didn’t end up leaving Anfield, with no offer on the table from Bremen despite them selling Davy Klaassen to Ajax.
Grujic now faces a tricky few months at Liverpool, given that Jurgen Klopp has to leave one senior non-homegrown player out of his Premier League and Champions League squads.
It’s likely to come down to Grujic of Xherdan Shaqiri, who both ended up staying at Liverpool having been linked away from the club.
Leaving out Grujic is believe to be ‘most likely’ given that Liverpool already have a number of midfield options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all in contention, as are new signing Thiago and youngster Curtis Jones.
That means that Grujic may now be sat on the sidelines at Liverpool until the January transfer window, when Liverpool’s £20million asking price may be reduced as Klopp’s first Liverpool signing contemplates a tricky few months.
