Herrera is currently on loan at Mexican side Santos Laguna from Rangers.

The Daily Record have claimed that Rangers director of football is looking to get striker Eduardo Herrera off of the wage bill “as soon as he can”, despite being on loan at Santos Laguna in Mexico.
The 30-year-old, who joined Rangers for £1.5million (Record) and on expensive wages under Pedro Caixinha last summer, managed just two goals in 24 appearances.
He was subsequently shipped out on loan by Rangers and Steven Gerrard in the summer, as he returned to Liga MX side Santos Laguna with whom he played for back in 2013-14.
There is a small chance that he could return to the first team, when considering the likelihood that Umar Sadiq will fail to get another go in the first team after his Scottish League Cup semi-final catastrophe.
It gives Gerrard just Kyle Lafferty and Alfredo Morelos up front, and a strong season on loan may convince Gerrard to give the powerhouse another chance. But just nine outings, no goals and nothing to record since August suggests otherwise.
Struggles facing Allen

Now, it seems as though Allen has made up his mind on Herrera as he continues to struggle on loan, and wants the high earner off the wage bill sooner rather than later.
He is on loan at Laguna until next summer, and has a contract at Rangers until 2020. Allen is keen to get rid, but cancelling Eduardo’s contract would prove expensive – but finding a team to buy him permanently will be just as hard.
Finding an agreement with a mutual termination could be a solution, but Allen will surely be hoping for an improvement in Herrera’s form between now and January in order to tempt sides into spending money on the Rangers flop.
