According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Marcus Edwards turned down moves to Championship clubs in order to secure a loan move to Excelsior.

Spurs have developed a host of talented young players in recent years, such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, whilst their academy is also producing talent.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyle Walker-Peters and Harry Winks have all been in and around the Spurs first team, whilst Oliver Skipp and Luke Amos are also coming through.

However, the main talent from the Spurs ranks in recent years has yet to really break through, with Marcus Edwards seemingly falling by the wayside in recent times.

Once compared to Lionel Messi by boss Mauricio Pochettino, Edwards simply hasn’t kicked on with Tottenham, and questions about his attitude were brought up during a dismal loan spell at Norwich City.

Now, Edwards has gone out on loan again, and Football.London report that he has snubbed offers from the Championship in order to head out on loan to Dutch side Excelsior in the Eredivisie.

It’s added that Edwards’ loan has no permanent clause, and he will be returning to Spurs at the end of his stay in the Netherlands, with Pochettino no doubt hoping to see the 19-year-old finally realise some of his potential before attempting to save his Spurs career.
