Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli reportedly wants to leave after rejecting West Ham.
According to the Daily Mail, Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli rejected a move to West Ham United this summer – but now wants to leave Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers got their season off to a disappointing start on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace on their return to top-flight football following a four-year absence.
It will take manager Slavisa Jokanovic time to integrate all of his new signings together, having gone on a summer signing spree, including five on transfer deadline day alone.
Jokanovic signed two goalkeepers this summer, bringing in Spaniards Fabricio and Sergio Rico from Besiktas and Sevilla respectively, and it was Fabricio who was handed the start against Palace.
However, their arrival is terrible news for Marcus Bettinelli, who has now seemingly been relegated to third-choice goalkeeper under Jokanovic – a role he may not be happy with.
The Daily Mail report that Bettinelli actually rejected moves to Crystal Palace and West Ham United this summer, as he believed that he would be entering the season as Fulham’s first-choice.
Now third-choice, Bettinelli has been left to consider his future, and is believed to be looking to move on having been somewhat let down by Fulham despite making 29 league starts in the club’s promotion campaign last season.
West Ham may have wanted Bettinelli as cover for Lukasz Fabianski before becoming first-choice down the line, though Adrian staying complicated matters anyway, and with Premier League clubs unable to strike deals, Bettinelli may have to drop into the Championship for now in order to get playing again.
