Everton snapped up Bernard on transfer deadline day.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton boss Marco Silva is hoping to have Bernard available to play against West Ham United this weekend.

The Toffees were prolific on deadline day, bringing in four new signings as Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Bernard all arrived at Goodison Park.

However, it’s been slow going for the new faces so far; Digne and Zouma made their first Premier League starts last time out against Huddersfield, whilst Mina, Gomes and Bernard have all been unable to make their first league starts.

Bernard missed out against Huddersfield through injury, leaving Everton fans to wonder just when they will see the Brazilian in more action having played just five minutes for the club so far.

Now, the Liverpool Echo report that boss Silva is hoping that Bernard will be back ready for this weekend’s game against West Ham United, giving the Toffees a major boost.

It’s unclear just whether Bernard would start – and it’s unlikely that he would – but he provides a timely fillip for Silva given that fellow Brazilian Richarlison is still out through suspension.

Of all Everton’s deadline day signings, Bernard is arguably the most exciting, as the diminutive playmaker was a real talent during his five years with Shakhtar Donetsk before heading to Everton on a free transfer.

Fans will hope to catch a glimpse of the samba star this weekend, and if he proves his fitness to Silva, he may yet play a big part in the game.
