The Black Cats are looking to add competition for Jordan Pickford.

According to the Daily Mail former Chelsea goalkeeper Marco Amelia is training with Sunderland ahead of a potential move to the North East.
The Black Cats have something of a crisis in the goalkeeping department at this moment in time after losing Vito Mannone to torn elbow ligaments.
They had tried to secure a signing in the position on deadline day, but manager David Moyes was met with frustration and failed to secure anyone despite targeting several players.

That has left him with just Jordan Pickford to choose, who, despite being highly rated at the Stadium of Light, may not be ready for regular Premier League football just yet.
As a result, Moyes must look at the free transfer market to try to find competition and it appears one man he is looking at is Amelia.

The Daily Mail reports that the goalkeeper is currently training with the Black Cats in the hope of securing a deal.
He is available on a free transfer this summer after Chelsea allowed him to leave Stamford Bridge, with the newspaper also claiming that Nottingham Forest have made an approach.
