Report: Marcelo Bielsa impressed by Leeds United’s Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi

The Leeds United defenders have reportedly impressed Marcelo Bielsa during his time at Elland Road so far.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has already positively assessed Luke Ayling and Gateano Berardi in training.

Ayling and Berardi started Leeds’ first friendly of the season against Forest Green.

And the YEP claim that the full-back duo have both impressed Bielsa during his early weeks at the club.

Ayling was always expected to be a key player for Leeds this term, but there were some doubts over Berardi.

The Swiss international’s poor disciplinary record can make him a risky selection choice for Leeds’ bosses.

However, it seems that he could feature regularly under Bielsa next term, even if he has to play in a new position at centre-back.

Leeds won their first friendly 2-1 against Forest Green, and showed signs of promise that they were starting to adapt to Bielsa’s famously demanding style.

The Whites begin their competitive season with a match against Stoke City at Elland Road.
